Hysa, 41, successfully defended his WBO title with his 23rd career knockout, stopping Narmo after dropping him with a powerful right hand in the second round.

Narmo managed to get back to his feet but appeared unsteady, prompting the referee to stop the bout.

The fight was part of the undercard for the Moses Itauma-Filip Hrgović event at the O2 Arena.

Hysa remained unbeaten after defeating Narmo in a clash between two previously undefeated heavyweights.

Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated Hysa, describing him as the first Albanian boxer to fight for a world heavyweight title.

“Congratulations, champion! Nelson Hysa, newly crowned global champion and the first Albanian in the world to fight for the world championship title,” Rama said.

The victory extends Hysa’s run in the WBO Global heavyweight division as he continues to build his international profile.

TIRANA, May 6 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Wednesday praised economist Ricardo Hausmann as “a loyal friend of Albania” during a ceremony awarding honorary doctorates to international figures in law, academia and the arts.

Speaking at the event, the government head highlighted Albania’s growing international engagement, noting that Tirana will host the opening session on Thursday and the World Law Congress scheduled for the coming year.

Rama singled out Hausmann, who was awarded a “Doctor Honoris Causa”, for his role in helping countries drive economic transformation.

“There are many economists who explain change after it happens, and very few who help countries change before the world notices. Professor Hausmann belongs to the latter,” Rama said.

He said their cooperation began only after he came to power, describing Hausmann’s approach as practical and distinct from traditional advisory models.

“He did not come with presentations, but with a hands-on approach,” Rama said, adding that Hausmann focuses on identifying opportunities rather than limitations.

Rama also pointed to Hausmann’s concept of “black belt teams” to overcome bureaucracy and deliver strategic projects, citing the Trans Adriatic Pipeline as an example of successful implementation.

He described Hausmann as an inspiring figure for countries in transition, adding that his work encourages ambition and long-term transformation.

“I remain grateful not only for your advice, but for your trust in Albania – that this country can aspire to more,” Rama said, calling Hausmann a trusted partner in the country’s development.

TIRANA, Aug 9 /ATA/ – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on Saturday praised two police officers for separate acts of bravery, including rescuing citizens from a car accident and battling wildfires.

Rama said Klajdi Mustaj became “yesterday’s hero” after saving three people injured in a serious traffic accident on the Levan–Fier highway.

“We are all grateful to Klajdi Mustaj for the great example he set in rescuing three citizens injured in the accident,” Rama wrote on social media.

The Prime Minister also commended officer Agim Troci, who was wounded a few day ago while fighting wildfires in Saranda.

“When a police officer dishonours the uniform, we are rightly outraged, and many unfairly insult the whole force,” Rama said. “But the State Police is represented not by those who shame it, but by thousands of men and women who work with dedication.”

Earlier, State Police Director General Ilir Proda awarded Mustaj a Distinguished Service Certificate for “courage and commitment in the service of citizens’ lives,” citing his “humanity and responsibility” in the rescue operation.
