The Power Distribution Operator (OSSH) said that severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms, have caused power outages in certain areas in the municipalities of Fier, Fushe-Kruje, Lezhe and Tirana suburbs.

“Electricity has been cut due to the bad weather with showers, strong winds and thunderstorms that have swept across the country last night and by the early hours of this morning,” the OSSH Head Petraq Lika said.

According to him, severe weather conditions will continued in the next 24 hours,

Around 90% of the power line defects have been indentified mainly in remote rural areas as they are still supplied by aerial power lines.

Important institutions, such as hospitals and hydropower plants are normally supplied with electricity.
