In a media statement, after a meeting with the structures of the Socialist Party in Fier, Balla, also responded to the question of Roskovec residents who expressed their concern about its construction on agricultural land, saying that the project will deliver an important strategic and economic impact and does not harm the environment.

“Our region is lucky to be one of the areas crossed by one of the largest gas pipelines in Europe, which has turned Albania into a strategic position on the European map of gas supply, and of course it will move to the second phase, not only transit, but also a beneficiary country. The creation of other alternative sources of energy through the use of gas is an important step to increase our electricity production capacity”, said Balla.

“I would like to assure the citizens that there is no exposure, in the sense of any risk to the environment, because in many countries of the world, wherever the gas pipelines pass, it is a real possibility to create gas-based power generation units,” he said.

“I want to guarantee the residents of Roskovec that it is an important strategic project, with zero risk of environmental pollution, instead it gives the municipality, the people of the area, additional income which will be used to develop the infrastructure of the area and to increase the number of jobs, because it is an important investment, not only for Albania, but also for the region, as one of the largest energy producers in Albania,” Balla concluded.
