PRISHTINA, Aug 28 /ATA/ -Businesses and domestic producers in Kosovo are losing millions of euros to the power shortages being applied over the last two weeks across the country due to the energy crisis that has hit Kosovo, according to the American Chamber of Commerce.

Senior officials of the American Chamber of Commerce criticized Kosovo institutions for failing to act and improve power supply to businesses and household consumers all over the country.

The Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Arian Zeka said in an interview with the news agency KosovaPress on Sunday that businesses and manufacturing sector are losing millions of euros each day because of the power cuts.

Zeka also pointed a finger to Kosovo institutions for failing to deliver on capital investment and public projects funded by the state budget.

Zeka also commented on his most recent meeting with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, Gabriel Escobar, saying that talks focused on importance of the Western Balkans’ economic integration, creation of a single regional market, like the Open Balkan initiative.

He said that the American Chamber supports the Open Balkan Initiative.

“Our talks also focused on the importance of the economic integration of the Western Balkan region, the creation of a common regional market, such as the initiative for the open Balkans, although Kosovo is currently reluctant to join.
