The figures were reported on Saturday by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who posted on social media photos showing the influx of arrivals in the port of Vlora.

The beautiful coast, reasonable prices, upgraded infrastructure and attractions such as the Lungomare lined with bars and restaurants, or the recently redesigned boulevard, Vlorë-Skelë, are some of the factors and strong points that explain the high indicators of foreign tourists from different countries of the world.

Tourist boats also operate in the port of Vlora during the summer months, offering pleasure voyages to the island of Sazan and the peninsula of Karaburun ever day.

TIRANA, July 29 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the construction site of the New Port of Vlora on Friday.

“The New Port of Vlora will be an integrated port where, in addition to cargo ships, fishing vessels and passenger ferries will be anchored as well, while two power ships will be installed within August,” said Rama.
Rama stated that this is a construction site of extraordinary importance.

“A port that finally deserves this name in the 21st century, because be the one inherited, or even the fishermen’s, they are medieval water parking spots, and secondly, because the entire fishing fleet is anchored here in completely different conditions, meanwhile as part of the fishery industry support program we will continue to finance either the repair of ships or the purchase of new ships, thirdly, this will increase the flow of trade through the sea. Fourthly, a facility up to the standards will be built for the passengers as well”, he said.

Rama emphasized that this tourist port will be described as one of the pearls of the Mediterranean.

“On one hand, this tourist port will be one of the pearls of the Mediterranean and on the other it will boost economic development, adding another engine for economic development of Vlora and for the entire tourism industry in Albania,” he said.

Rama added that, here we are in an area where the most ambitious energy program of the government is coming to life little by little.

“What is going on in the next two weeks with the production of another 110 megawatts through the sea is only one step towards coping with this global emergency situation, because we have come to the point now where not only the price of energy gone is skyrocketing, but the volume of energy available to buy is shrinking. Other than the mind-boggling price of energy, it will be very difficult to procure it. Meanwhile, we are taking measures for Albania to enter another phase, that of becoming a net exporter. We have a transition phase here that we need to bring together all the things that have been prepared for so long and create this synergy”, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku informed Prime Minister on the progress of work at the New Port of Vlora.

“We are in the area of Triport. We have just started building the construction site here to kick off the Vlora integrated port project. We are located 3 km from the existing port. Everything has now been completed in terms of the contract and all other steps. We are ready to set up the construction site. We are in the final stages to conclude all the permits and everything else and this contract will last for 3 years, starting from October 2022 until October 2025,” said Balluku.

“This is an investment worth 59 million euros which entails the construction of 133 parking spaces for fishing vessles and two ships for the transport of citizens and 1 ship for the transport of goods, which will be located throughout this area. In this area of 110 thousand m2 there will be a series of other projects, a developing economic area. Here we will develop the whole plan for the deepening of the harbor, thus creating all the conditions for operations”, she said.
