The premier Rama welcomed the approval of the agreement on the construction of the new port of Durrës. The project was approved with 74 votes in favor and 35 votes against.

“The PRO vote paves the way for the construction of the Tourist Port, which will be an extraordinary economic engine for Durrës and the whole of Albania,” the premier Rama said on Facebook.

“This is the largest foreign investment in the country’s history, which will turn Durrës into an attractive Mediterranean tourist gateway, as well as will give Albania a major boost to be top tourist attraction in the Balkans,” Rama said at the yesterday’s plenary session.

The new port of Durrës will become an economic engine contributing 8 billion euros to GDP.

The premier also emphasized that the government will not forgive tax liabilities in the case of the Project on new Port of Durrës, on the contrary the state will benefit 1.069 billion euros from taxes.

“For the first time in history, the state will be involved in a partnership the foreign investor, who will make an investment of 2.1 billion euros,”he added. //a.i/

The premier Rama reacted to the draft law on the approval of the framework agreement, between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and Eagle Hills Real Estate Development, Albanian Seaports Development Company, sh.a. and Nshmi Development L.L.C, regarding the strategic investment project “Marina & yachts of Durrës”.

He said that only five out of 33 initial requests from the investors were accepted.

“This will be the largest foreign investment in the country’s history, which will be an economic engine with an 8 billion euro contribution to the GDP,” the premier Rama said.

“The immunity of public property from any kind of encroachment is guaranteed,” he stressed.//a.i/

Compared to the same period a year ago, the volume of processing construction goods has increased by 40,345 tons.
