The Prime Minister calls this investment “the largest tourist port of the Mediterranean,” adding that the investor has an unquestionable global reputation.

“It would have been inconceivable, not 50 years ago, but even 5 years ago, for us to have an investment like this in tourism, in a country that started to develop as a country with vision to be competitive in tourism, when we took office. This is the truth,” Rama said, adding that before there was no tourism, only domestic tourism and with the citizens of Kosovo.

The Prime Minister stated that this tourism period has seen an extraordinary increase, compared to previous years, emphasizing that “in one of the ratings for the growth of tourism in the Mediterranean countries, Tirana ranked second after Antalya.”

Rama said that the new port to be built in Porto Romano by the Dutch company will be responsible for handling cargo ships, while the tourist port will be built in its location, as in many other port cities in Europe and the world.

The Prime Minister recalled that the company “Eagle Hills Real Estate Development” is also developing a major water-front project in Belgrade, stressing that in Albania this investment will exponentially drive up the property value of all the citizens of Durrës, as well as of all the hotels in the entire coast of Durrës.

“It is about the completely different image that tourist Albania will have in the world,” said Rama.

“So, it is about an investor of unquestionable global reputation, and it is about a will that stems from a special friendship between Prince Muhammed Bin Zayed and the Albanians. A story of fraternity that is an extremely important cornerstone for Albanian history, their prompt presence in Kukës to come to the aid of our brothers and sisters from Kosovo fleeing the ethnic cleansing and Muhammed Bin Zayed comes back with another extraordinary expression of good will, sending Muhammed Alabbari with his support for an investment that will exceed two billion dollars,” Rama said.
