TIRANA, August 28 /ATA/ The civic protest in Tirana entered its 90th consecutive day today, with demonstrators reiterating their demands for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation and opposing the Zvërnec investment project.

The protesters initially gathered at “Skanderbeg” square, from where they started the march along the boulevard towards the Prime Minister’s Office, expressing their opposition to the project and simultaneously raising other concerns regarding policies for protected areas and strategic investments.

Protesters persist in demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the dismantling of the traditional political establishment, the reversal of amendments to the protected areas law, and comprehensive electoral reform.

The protesters also demand the repeal of several legal initiatives, which, according to them, breach the interests of Albanian citizens.

The organizers have warned that the protest will continue in the coming days until their demands are met. /e.xh/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, February 12/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha reiterated today his stance towards the justice institutions, emphasizing that, “I have denounced and denounce SPAK as a criminal organization.”

Berisha added that, “This said, I do not mean every employee in that institution, but I mean those prosecutors who close crime files; those prosecutors who use official documents to fine criminals and murderers so that to facilitate and manipulate their files.”

“Yes, I have evidence and I could never make such statements without irrefutable evidence and facts. These is also the interest of the citizens who pay them to fight crime and not to collect fines from criminals and to enrich themselves,” Berisha said.

Regarding the Justice Reform, Berisha said further on, that when the Democratic Party comes to power, “It will engage the most serious institution in the world, the most knowledgeable in lawmaking, the most capable, which is the Venice Commission.”

“We have started some work, just for information, with very prominent European experts, to do some kind of observation of this and find a way because the people want a solution, the state wants a solution. Albania cannot remain without a civil process, without a criminal process. The OECD also said it, no one comes to Albania to invest. And, of course, with a political prosecution that does not abide by the law, but implements orders of the minister”, said Berisha. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, July 24/ATA/ The State Commissioner for Elections Ilirjan Celibashi appreciated today necessary to change the way of organization and operation of the second and third level election commissions.

“Perhaps, it is not the time or even the occasion, but I must draw the attention now, especially after the elections on July 23, 2023 in Rrogozhina, to the necessity of changing the way of organization and operation of the election commissions of the second and third levels”, he wrote in a reaction to the media.

Celibashi emphasized that the administration of elections at these levels by persons designated only by political parties does not ensure the integrity of the process or its technical good administration.

“I hope that the political parties will realistically and without prejudice evaluate this consideration of the Central Election Commission”, concluded he. /m.m/r.e/p.s./
