Speaking at a joint press conference with his Albanian counterpart Bajram Begaj after their bilateral meeting in Tirana, Duda underlined that Poland-Albania exchanges grew by 60%, but the potential for enhanced trade is much higher.

“Albanian economy and infrastructure is developing in a dynamic way. Albania deserves to join the European Union as soon as possible and its membership is in our best interest too. I assured my counterpart Begaj for Poland’s support in this process. We also discussed issues of economic cooperation. A large group of Polish entrepreneurs are accompanying me to establish new bridges of cooperation and they will attend a joint Poland-Albania economic forum. I very much hope that new cooperation contracts are signed. Volume of trade exchanges between the two countries registered a growth of 60% in 2022 with an estimated value of over 200 million euros. However, the potential is much higher, ”Duda said.

Polish President noted that tourism is another field of cooperation, saying that a growing number of Polish tourists are visiting Albania.

“It was a pleasure to meet with the Polish President Andrzej Duda,” PM Rama said via the social media.

Earlier on the day, the President of Poland was received by the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj, with their talks focusing on the economic cooperation and trade exchanges, and Albania’s European Integration process.

Polish head of state Andrzej Duda was also received by the Albanian Assembly Speaker Lindita Nikolla, underlining that “Albania and Poland are close and dignified NATO member states.”

Later today, Polish President Duda is scheduled to attend a joint economic forum that will bring business community representatives from both countries.

During his visit, President Dudaj is accompanied by a delegation of Polish entrepreneurs hosted by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH).

During his stay, Polish President is also expected to visit the museum town of Kruja.

Duda’s trip is the first official visit by a Polish President to Albania in the last 20 years.

President’s office said in a press release Duda’s visit will be the first official visit by a Polish President to Albania in the last 20 years.

Polish President is set to arrive in Albania on May 11 and will be received by the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj.

After their bilateral talks, President Begaj and his Polish counterpart will chair an expanded meeting of the two delegations. The two will then appear at a joint press conference.

The two presidents will later attend and deliver speeches to a joint Albania-Poland economic forum in Tirana, bringing together business representatives of both countries.

During his visit, President Dudaj will be accompanied by a delegation of Polish entrepreneurs hosted by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH).

During his stay, Polish President is also expected to visit the museum town of Kruja.
