TIRANA, Feb 2 /ATA/ The former maternity hospital of Korça, generously donated to the city by the eminent philanthropist Thoma Turtulli, a key site in preserving the city’s historical memory and architectural heritage, is set to undergo comprehensive restoration.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared photos from the ongoing restoration project, announcing that the building has been spared from demolition and will be repurposed as the administrative center for the newly established Polis of Knowledge.

The objective of the restoration project is to emphasize and restore the architectural values of the building, which have suffered degradation over time, while ensuring the preservation of its authentic features and unique character.
Thoma Turtulli was one of the greatest philanthropists of Korça, who donated a series of iconic buildings to the city, including the hospital, library, cinema, high school, and orphanage.
With the construction of the hospital, he saved the lives of dozens of people, while his contribution to the library helped disseminate knowledge in a city renowned for its educational tradition.
The restoration of this building is regarded as an important step in preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Korça.
