TIRANA, October 30 /ATA/ The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has made available a digital platform for those passionate about Albanian iso-polyphony. It is as rich as it is entertaining to understand the history and the play of voices of this “World Cultural Heritage” of UNESCO.

Entitled “Take up an Iso”, this platform is also in English.

In a post on social networks, Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro said that, “As it is Sunday, I want to share with you one of the beautiful things of the work we have done. It seems as if we all know Albanian iso-polyphony, some feel it more because we were born and were brought up with it, like me; some are used to this sort of music that today is part of the “World Cultural Heritage” of UNESCO, making it heard in all festivals and cultural activities; some are curious to understand how this song is performed with many voices, where each voice is unique, unrepeatable, irreplaceable and with its own role and time”.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Environment offers you this digital platform, as rich as it is entertaining, to understand Albanian iso-polyphony, its history, the play of voices. You can learn to sing, too! My favorite is “Daughter of the Waves”, extraordinary lyrics of the mountain and the sea, Himara iso-polyphony. And you can share it with foreign friends because the platform is in English, too! Congratulations to MEDIAMIX for this accomplished work and to all the collaborators who made it possible”, said Kumbaro.

17 years ago, on November 25, 2005, Albanian folk iso-polyphony was declared a “Masterpiece of the Oral Heritage of Humanity”, protected by UNESCO. Therefore, this date is a historical day, for the entire Albanian cultural heritage, but also for Albania itself./p.s./
