The operation held from April to October 2022, was led by France, Greece, Italy and Spain and involved the police and customs authorities of 28 countries.

During the 7-month period of this international operation, the Albanian Police have launched 6 operations and mega-operations to combat the smuggling of medical drugs. These operations have resulted in the arrest of 14 citizens, criminal prosecution of 6 citizens and seizure of various medications, worth over 100,000 euros.

In the course of international operation “Shield” in all the countries involved, 59 criminal syndicates were dismantled and 349 suspects were arrested.

Also, the operation resulted in the seizure of large quantities of counterfeit drugs, doping substances, illegal food and sports supplements, counterfeit vaccines against COVID, sanitary products and medical equipment.

The State Police ensure that they are determined to work closely with partners, in fulfilling the common mission, the fight against economic and financial crimes, corruption, money laundering, organized crime and terrorism.
