Interior Minister claimed that 2023 was the best year in terms of public safety and security in decades.

According to him, last year’s performance of the State Police should serve as a motive to further boost public safety and security, adding that the government will deliver on its pledge to increase wages and grant soft housing loans to the State Police officers.

Interior Minister reiterated that the government is committed to continuing support policies for the State Police officers.

“An initial group of 994 State Police officers have been already granted interest-free housing loans and as many as 300 more officers are expected to benefit from this government policy in 2024 and a higher number in 2025,” Balla said.

Interior Minister also announced that a new pay hike for the police force is being examined, just like it will be the case with other public sector workers, including the Armed Forces, health personnel and public administration starting as of July 1 this year.

“I have demanded that the police receive the highest pay rise due to the need for more dynamic work of the State Police,” he said, adding that 2023 was the best year in terms of the level of public safety and security in decades.
