TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ Monsignor Arjan Doda was the guest of Prime Minister Edi Rama in episode 15 of season 2 of the FLASIM podcast entitled “Go in peace”.

Rama had a candid conversation with Monsignor Arjan Doda, with the latter recalling the moment of feeling close to God.
Monsignor Arjan Doda said in his narration that he came from a generation that did not inherit the dimension of religion in the sense of performing its rituals, emphasizing that the main figure in the dimension of religion for him was the figure of his grandmother.

“Because in reality, without realizing it, I always saw her praying, with rosary in hands, when practicing religious faith was banned, but my grandfather had made rosaries from olive seeds, so that she could pray. I saw her stare at a window for more than 30 minutes. In front of it, maybe 300 meters away, there was a stable that later was converted into a car service. To my eyes it was nothing extraordinary. But latter I came to realize why she stared at the stable. There used to be a church, where the priest, Don Shtjefën Kurti, served in the past,” Monzot Arjan Doda explained.

Another reason he felt so close to God, he said, was the fact that he was born and raised in Laç.

“Near my school was the road that leads to the St. Anthony Church. At that time it was impossible to go and visit it, as the soldiers cordoned off the area to block people from crossing it. But on Tuesdays, when the morning train came from Shkodra, a caravan of mothers, women with children, often sick, would manage to break the cordon and often not. And when they didn’t make it, they asked us children to take their letters up to the Church. We often went and brought their prayers to the church. I was caught up in this labyrinth and then I understood…”, Monsignor Arjan Doda confesses.
