In Kruja, hundreds of patriots wearing the traditional white plis gathered from across Albanian territories to celebrate the Referendum of the Covenant—a symbolic and unifying event aimed at advancing the recognition of Albania’s historic and ethno-cultural identity symbols on the path toward UNESCO protection.

Artur Bushi, Mayor of Kruja, highlighted that “this nationally significant gathering began at Kruja Castle and continued at the Palace of Culture,” where prominent figures, scholars, and experts presented historical and scientific perspectives to support the UNESCO nomination of the White Plis.

“This nationally significant event began at Kruja Castle and then continued at the ‘Ibrahim Bërdaku’ Palace of Culture with an exhibition and an artistic program featuring pan-Albanian ensembles,” said Bushi, while expressing his gratitude to the pan-national ‘Bytyqi’ Association for their support in promoting national values.

The event came alive with spirited music, folkloric dances, and a festive atmosphere, earning broad recognition as a vital step toward safeguarding cultural heritage and promoting Albanian national identity on the international scene.
