TIRANA, Oct 31 /ATA/ The Head of EU Delegation, Silvio Gonzato, submitted the 2024 Progress Report for Albania to Prime Minister Edi Rama on Thursday in Tirana.
In response to journalists’ question, Gonzato stated that the EU supports Albania’s plan to close all membership clusters by 2027, adding that it is indeed an ambitious goal.

“The statement approved yesterday expresses the Commission’s support and readiness to assist the Albanian government in opening all clusters by 2025. It is very ambitious, but Albania is ambitious as well,” Gonzato remarked.

“This has been demonstrated in the EU’s screening processes; this is our offer of readiness and support, but it also requires considerable effort and political will from Albania, as well as the willingness of member states to open the chapters. If member states are convinced that Albania has truly made progress and met the necessary membership benchmarks to advance to this phase. I am confident that we can make progress in this regard. I firmly believe that we can advance in this process, as it provides focus and stimulus giving ownership of the process that belongs to Albania,” said the EU ambassador in our country.
