In a televised interview with the Report Tv, Pisonero said that “it is essential that EU member states wrap up discussions on the Negotiation Frameworks without any delay and the first intergovernmental conferences with both countries be held as soon as possible. ”

She stressed that “both Albania and North Macedonia have delivered on the conditions to start accession negotiations.”

Pisonero assured that “the Commission will stay in touch with all the relevant parties and will work with the next French Presidency to achieve our common goal of formally launching accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.”

“As we have said all along, delays in the official launch of accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia are damaging the credibility of the EU. The pending bilateral issues between Bulgaria and North Macedonia should be resolved as quickly as possible and should not hold back the enlargement process. We continue to encourage both sides to come up with a mutually acceptable solution to the pending bilateral issues,” Pisonero said.
