Prime Minister Edi Rama shared an awareness video on social media, urging Albanian women and girls to prioritize their health and schedule regular check-ups. In his message, Rama encourages them to make time for themselves by taking advantage of free mammograms available across the country’s network of polyclinics and regional hospitals.

Female service members also feature in the video, sharing vital messages about breast cancer prevention and the power of early diagnosis.

“This Pink October, I want to share a message of awareness with every Albanian girl and woman,” said Second Lieutenant Alida Bego. “Caring for your health is an act of responsibility and strength. Beyond your duty in uniform, never forget to take care of yourself.”

TIRANA, October 1/ATA/ October is recognized globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took the opportunity to call on women to take care of themselves by having free of charge mammograms in polyclinics and regional hospitals in the country.

“With the annual call in every Pink October for all women to take a little time to take care of themselves, by having free of charge mammograms in the network of polyclinics and regional hospitals in the country,” Rama wrote in the social media.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to increase public understanding of the disease, promote early detection through regular screenings and self-exams, support research for cures and treatments, and honor those affected by breast cancer.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has extended its awareness campaign not only in October, but throughout the year. Regular check-ups are essential for early diagnosis in the fight against cancer and for health protection.

The ministry has enabled every woman to be notified of timely mammograms and check-ups through the “e-Albania” portal. /k.s/r.e/p.s./
