The floating photovoltaic park is set to become operational in 2026, representatives from the Albanian Power Corporation (KESH) announced at the conference “The External Dimension of EU-supported Connectivity,” hosted by the Cooperation and Development Institute.

During the conference, KESH officials outlined the challenges facing the project and the pure-float technology to be applied to construction of the floating solar power plant at Vau i Dejës reservoir.

“The challenges facing the project include selection of the proper float technology for our plant, as well as metering the area’s hydro meteorological values. Through the support from the Western Balkans Investment Fund (WBIF) and close cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) we have completed the feasibility study and the pure-float technology has been selected, while work is underway in the technical specifications. The project is estimated to complete and become operational by 2026,” KESH representative Jeshar Peposhi said in his remarks.

According to him, the project represents a major step towards securing sustainable energy resources in the future.

This is the second solar power plant project to be installed at Vau i Dejës reservoir.
