TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ The archive of the “Marubi” National Museum of Photography preserves a collection of more than 500,000 glass negatives, roll film and filmstrip, as well as documents and objects of the collection’s photographers.

In a post on social media, Minister Gonxhja considers this archive as an unusual journey in history, the conservation process of which has kicked off thanks to the support of the German Embassy in our country.

The colossal work in the archive entails conservation, cataloging and digitization processes. The German Embassy in Tirana enabled the financing of the materials of the Klug-Conversation company, for the systematization and preservation of the archive according to contemporary conditions.

This enables the implementation of a new system of conservation of glass negatives, roll films, filmstrips, photographs on paper as well as documents which will be placed in new envelopes and boxes designed according to the relevant sizes, quality and standards, complying with the principle of conservation dictated by the authors themselves.
Such a process, which will continue in the coming years, until the complete replacement of all the old conservation materials, enables the protection of archival material and the passing on of this wealth of cultural heritage to future generations.
