TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday warned that there would be no compromise with builders regarding construction standards, while urging full compliance with permits and regulations.

Speaking at a meeting with entrepreneurs on the 2026 Fiscal Package, Rama said the construction sector must perform with the highest responsibility.

“There is no peace with builders. Fiscal peace applies to everyone, but there is no peace on standards with builders. This sector is key and must operate with maximum responsibility,” he said.

Rama also cautioned that builders who violate permits would be placed on a “blacklist” and barred from obtaining new construction approvals for many years.

The government head voiced confidence that a new package of legal measures for the construction sector would help improve quality and ensure stricter compliance with standards.

TIRANA, March 27/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today during an event at the Fital Sh.p.k Company in Kamza that construction firms will no longer receive construction permits and will not be accepted in tenders if they have workers who are paid below a certain salary.

Rama said that this is not an arbitrary salary set by the government, but is a salary that is estimated by the operators of the sector themselves.

“We cannot accept that the minimum salary is the same in the construction sector because this is exploitation. It is not a reflection of productivity, but it is exploitation”, added Rama.

The prime minister emphasized that the government is setting its example by increasing the minimum salary, which forces the increase of other salaries in the system.

“Today, judges and prosecutors are paid more than us, but this was done to support the Justice Reform and to implement what we have on paper”, said Rama.

He also emphasized that an in-depth analysis is being done and soon a study plan for the further increase of salaries will be made public. /m.m/p.s./
