Balla made this statement following the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group meeting, noting that “the law for the People’s Advocate does not require a parliament member to sign for only one candidate; it allows signing for multiple candidates.”

“We will wait until today and in the coming days while we assess the candidates put forward by the opposition within our parliamentary group. Once we’ve reviewed them, we will announce our choice of candidate. The parliament will select the candidate who receives 84 votes or more. Our final decision will be made public once the deadline has run out. Until then, we cannot comment, as there may be other, stronger candidates than the ones currently proposed,” Balla explained.
When questioned by reporters about the potential risk of not electing the People’s Advocate, given that the opposition is handling the nominations, Balla stated, “This is the best possible scenario. In the current context, we have stepped back from proposing a candidate and will vote for one of the candidates put forward by the opposition.”
