“We are fortunate to be one of NATO’s 30 allies, and Article 5 on our collective defense stipulates that if one square centimeter of a NATO ally is attacked, NATO responds as a whole. Of course, we have our armed force, which is combined with NATO capabilities,” said Peleshi.

“We have been tasked with operational duties from NATO, we have built capacities for which we invest every day, the second Infantry Battalion group is part of NATO capacities, therefore, ready to be used by NATO in the event of defense operations. “I want to remind you that NATO is a defense alliance that responds by ensuring strong and credible deterrence and defense,” Peleshi said.

“All our processes of modernizing the army, new recruits, enhancement of standards aim for deterrence. “Even participation in the biggest exercise of the last 30 years was intended to flex the muscles of our defense alliance”, he continued.

Specifically, Peleshi said that NATO has increased its presence in the eastern part of the Alliance.

“We have also made our concrete commitments. Today we have sent to KFOR a platoon of 30 effectives, meanwhile a platoon and another company are set to be deployed on the eastern borders to increase security and deter the Russian aggressor,” Peleshi said.
