In a televised interview on the first anniversary of Hamas attacks in Israel, Peleg spoke about the conflict in the Middle East, the 101 Israeli hostages still held by Hamas, as well as the relations with international partners, including Albania.

“The people of Israel is having a tough time as this is not something that has ended; it is perpetual. We still have 101 hostages in Gaza, and we do not know their situation. We hope to see them back in Israel soon. Israel is fighting on seven fronts; it started with Gaza but did not remain there. On October 7 last year, there were attacks from Hezbollah, which forced 1,000 people to evacuate. We have also been targeted from Yemen. After that, there is an organization in Tehran. If you ask me about the war in the Middle East, I don’t believe it is happening only there; it is happening here as well. It will be a problem for Europe and the Western world,” emphasized the ambassador.
She emphasized that the United States has been Israel’s closest ally and expressed confidence that they will continue to do so.
Ambassador Peleg described Albania as a beacon of light during dark times in history.

“The Albanian people stand with Israel. This cooperation continues through thick and thin, but from October 7 onwards, I told Prime Minister Rama, Minister Hasani, and President Begaj that I want to be in Israel with all my heart. If I cannot be there in person, the best place for me to be is Albania. The support we have received from the government and the public at all levels is highly valued and is one of a kind. The fact that Albania is a small country and comes under pressures from various actors on the international stage and yet again it stands by Israel in the fight against terror and anti-Semitism is remarkable. Rama’s speech at the UN and the fact that he appeared with such a ribbon reminds us that there are still hostages in Gaza, which is greatly appreciated,” Peleg stated.
