It is coated with snow this January offering a spectacular view, a unique experience for climbers, but also for mountain lovers.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared in the social media a view from “Maja e Hekurave” where a group of climbers have reached the summit, and where one cannot help but wonder how they managed to get there.

The Albanian flag could not be missing on “Maja e Hekurave” like in every other achievement where the national symbol shows pride.

“Maja e Hekurave” has an altitude of 2561 meters in the heights of the Valbona valley.

The numerous glacial cirques, which extend almost on all sides, have given the peak a sharp pyramidal shape. The surrounding area still preserves the wild nature, rich biodiversity and the characteristic traditions of Tropoja. The visitors have the opportunity to combine alpine adventure with hiking on mountain trails, exploring the fauna and flora and getting acquainted with Albanian culture and tradition. /e.i/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ Valamara Peak, located on the border between Korça, Gramsh and Pogradec has become one of the most beautiful destinations for mountaineering enthusiasts.

One of the reasons to visit Valamara Peak are the three glacial lakes, about 2200 meters above sea level, near the village of Lenie. Valamara Lakes create an interesting eco-system and also have geological, ecological and cultural values.

The Administration of Protected Areas Korça together with Korça Alpin organized during the recent days with the enthusiasts hiking in nature and further climbing to the top of the Valamara at an altitude of 2373 m.

According to Korça Administration of Protected Areas, the visitors passed between 2 natural monuments such as the Lakes of Lenia and the Rrobujt of Lenia, two rare pearls of Albanian nature.

Valamara is a mountain with a 2373 m height. It is bordered on the north by Guri i Topit, and on the south by Lenia. It is created mainly of ultra-basic rocks.

There are numerous forms of glacial relief and glacial lakes (over 1600 m). The Shkumbin River originates on the eastern slope, while the Devolli flows on the western and south-eastern slopes. The vegetation consists of beech and pine forests in the lower part and rich summer pastures in the upper part./k.s/j.p/p.s./
