TIRANA, May 17 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Azerbaijan and Armenia are close to signing a historic peace deal, according to Prime Minister Edi Rama, who made the statement as he addressed the Future Investment Initiative forum (FII) in Tirana on Saturday, one day after the Albanian capital hosted the sixth summit of the European Political Community (EPC).

The government head underlined that Russia’s unprovoked aggression on Ukraine has made everyone realize that the European Political Community is very beneficial for all, as it brings together the entire greater democratic Europe.

Rama noted that many countries were sceptical when he expressed full support for the European Political Community.

He said that EPC was not formed to block enlargement of the European Union, as everyone initially thought. According to him, the sixth EPC summit in Tirana ultimately changed everything.

“It was delightful to see Azerbaijan and Armenia attending the EPC summit as the two countries are now just a step away from signing a historic peace deal,” Rama stated.
