TIRANA, Nov 13 /ATA/ – The Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi announced Saturday that around 36,000 teachers across the country will receive a 6% boost in their salary in 2022.

In her remarks at presentation of the 2022 education budget, an event also attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Education Minister noted that the government awarded a 32% pay rise for all teachers and the next year’s increase represents the first step to delivering the government’s commitment to increase teachers’ salaries by 32% by end of the four-year term in office.

“The teachers’ salaries rose by 32% during the previous term in office, and it is our goal to award another 32% rise for teachers and this process will start with the next year’s budget, when we plan a 6% pay hike for all education workers throughout the country,” Kushi said.

According to her, the 2022 state budget also largely focuses on improvement of the educational infrastructure.

“More than 300 educational facilities all over the country have been either built or rehabilitated in the last four years, without including 70 newly-built schools under the ongoing post-earthquake reconstruction program. The new schools meet best contemporary standards, Kushi said.
