“Given that in this area animal farming is more developed than in others, we need to take another step forward, that of setting the stage for collection and processing. Livestock farming is, as my professor Dhimo Kotja taught me, the most difficult and delicate part, because it requires a lot of effort, but we still have to maximize the value, create added value, so that the livestock farmers can have an opportunity for collection, which means, strengthening the relationships with third parties who contract them in advance, who pay them upfront and tell them to breed the livestock because the production will be marketed,” said Rama.

Rama also welcomed the question posed by a livestock farmer who asked at the meeting extension of the pasture lease arrangement to 10 years.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, added that there is a study in progress with the experts of the line ministries. We will work to reach an agreement with the municipalities, so that the contracts for livestock farmers on the use of pastures will not be under 10 years any more to ensure a good progress of this business as well,” she said.

“We are addressing investments for the construction of new dairy farms and we aim to include livestock even in the largest financing programs”, said Krifca, putting the emphasis on the construction of collection centers for livestock products.
