Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi appreciated that this decision paves the way for the development of Pashaliman shipyard and the establishment of a commercial cooperation with one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world.

According to Nufi, the shipyard will produce ships with a length of up to 82 meters, marking an important step in increasing the production and technological capacities of the maritime industry in Albania.

“The personnel of the Naval Force Diving Unit conducted a joint exercise with their colleagues from Kosovo Security Force in Pashaliman. Defense Minister Pirro Vengu said that, “The Fincantier company and the Albanian company KAYO signed today the memorandum of good understanding that is an important step for realization of Pashaliman shipyard”.

“The cooperation between KAYO and Fincantier will have a dual purpose, it will not only focus on strengthening the capacities of the naval combat force, but also on the civilian commercial vehicle for the national and international market”, said Vengu.

Meanwhile, today there was also signed the Letter of Intent for the transfer of the military patrol ship “Libra” into the use of the Albanian Naval Force.

Vengu said in his speech that the donation of the “Libra” ship is a symbol of the excellent and deep relations that exist between Albania and Italy.

“This act emphasizes the joint commitment to security and defense and the strengthening of our partnership in the field of defense, especially in the Adriatic-Ionian area. The donation of the “Libra” ship will contribute to increase the combat capabilities of the Albanian Navy, will enable the inclusion of the air force in our naval operations. For our naval personnel, this ship will restore the mentality of operating ships with military capabilities. Cynics may say: Why an old ship? The Ministry of Defense reported today that this exercise is expected to last until October 7, 2024. During the same period, the British side, in addition to conducting the “Austere Wolf 24” exercise, also plans to land in our country “Strategic Reserve Force” ” (SRF), which will continue the passage on the route of Corridor VIII, Albania (Durrës or Vlora) – North Macedonia – Kosovo – Albania.

The “Austere Wolf-24” exercise, planned by the British side, aims to land troops and vessels in difficult coastal conditions in cooperation with the host country. The purpose of this exercise is to promote interaction between NATO member countries.

“During the one-week training in Pashaliman dives reached depths of up to 3-12m getting acclimatized with the waters. American experts have long experience in the field of responding to natural disasters such as massive wildfires in forest areas.

After meeting with the Agency representatives, US experts continued intensive meetings at Pashaliman Base.

This technical assistance is part of the Disaster Relief Assistance Program, which is a collaborative program between the USAID Humanitarian Aid Bureau and the U.S. Forest Service.

The three technical experts from the USA will cooperate with the Albanian experts for providing expertise and experience in the operation against fires in the territory of Albania./p.s./

In a statement for ATA, the Prefect of Vlora region Flamur Mamaj spoke about the situation of fires and other dangerous spots in this region.

Mamaj said that a helicopter has been used at Pashaliman base and the situation is brought under control.

Meanwhile, Mamaj stressed that they expect intervention by air through helicopter in the village of Dukat in Vlora, where another dangerous fire has been burning.

“Currently, the intervention for bringing the fires under control in Radhima and Kuç continues. Another dangerous spot remains the one in Karaburun”, said Mamaj for ATA.

He stressed that 50 military forces, 10 forces from Regional Administration of Protected Areas and 5 from the Orikum Administrative Unit have been engaged in the field.
