TIRANA, June 30 /ATA/ – The Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee on Monday reviewed the draft law on trademarks aimed at modernizing the industrial property framework and aligning it with EU standards.

Deputy Minister Blerta Rama said the bill will introduce clearer procedures for trademark registration, stronger protections against infringements, and measures to combat counterfeit goods.

The reform responds to increasing trademark disputes amid a growing competitive market.

Deputy Minister told lawmakers that the draft law represents significant progress in aligning Albania’s legislation with the EU acquis, providing a clear and enforceable legal framework that meets the needs of the Albanian market, contemporary challenges, and economic stakeholders.

The draft law covers trademarks and other industrial property rights, aiming to create a fairer market, enhance legal certainty, and support Albania’s EU integration efforts. The legislation was approved unanimously by the parliamentary committee.
