TIRANA, Sept 27 /ATA/ Cooperation of parliament with the “Support to Parliament and Civic Education in Albania” project enabled virtual desktop infrastructure equipment that contributes to efficiency of parliament’s work.

The act of donation was signed on Monday by the Secretary General of Parliament, Genc Gjonçaj and the Head of OSCE Presence Vincenzo Del Monaco with the participation of Parliament Speaker, Lindita Nikolla, and the Swiss Ambassador, Adrian Maître.

Parliament Speaker, Lindita Nikolla, underlined that this agreement will facilitate law-making, public consultation, security and accessibility of parliamentary information.

“The Albanian Parliament is grateful to the Government of Switzerland and the OSCE for enabling the installation of this system and we are confident that our cooperation will continue,” she said.
“We appreciate the efforts of parliament to adjust even to challenging times such as the battle with the Covid-19 pandemic, highlighting these in our report on the participating states. We commend the ground-breaking solutions such as the VDI system, enabling the Albanian Parliament to be a benchmark in the region in terms of information technology, contributing to transparency and legislative work,” the head of the OSCE Presence, Vincenzo Del Monaco, said.

“This project is part of our broader program of Swiss cooperation with Albania, which reflects one of its strategic objectives. I am glad that today’s donation of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) contributes to improving the efficiency of Parliament’s functions. “Other than components aimed at enhancing the transparency and accountability of the Parliament, it strengthens the democratic process of Albania,” the Swiss Ambassador Adrian Maître said.

The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) will be used by MPs and Parliament administrative staff to improve communication, remote work and facilitate the process of e- legislation. Amid the conditions of adjusting to COVID-19 restrictions, this infrastructure enables a better flow of work processes.
