In attendance of the meeting was also the Consul General of Albania in Lebanon, Marc I. Ghorayeb.

Parliament Speaker Nikolla thanked General Abbas Ibrahim for his great contribution to the repatriation of Albanian children and women from the camps in Syria as well as the support for the Albanian staff during the repatriation operations on the ground.

Nikolla pointed out that “Albania stands alongside its strategic ally, the United States, in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.”

“Terrorism and violent extremism use religious motives, but they have nothing in common with the faith and Islam,” she said.

Major General Abbas Ibrahim highly appreciated “the contribution of the Government of Albania to peace and security in the region and beyond, as well as to the excellent model of coexistence and harmony between the religious faiths in Albania.”
