TIRANA, Nov 10 /ATA/ Today marks the launch of the 10th edition of the European Integration School, organized by the Albanian Parliament and the National Council for European Integration, in partnership with the Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA), the European Union Delegation, and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation.

The opening ceremony also included a speech by the Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, who highlighted the significance of this milestone edition.

“Ten years have passed since the launch of this initiative. Today, we can affirm that the European Integration School has become a well-established tradition of the Albanian Parliament, with more than 350 alumni who are now contributing across various sectors,” he remarked.
This school was established a decade ago to support Albania’s preparation for the European integration process and continues to provide a valuable theoretical and practical framework on European affairs.
“The very fact that this year’s edition has attracted a record number of 430 applications—twice as many as last year—speaks volumes about the success and significance of this program,” stated Peleshi.
Speaker of Parliament Peleshi emphasized that “European integration is not merely a strategic objective of the state, but a comprehensive process for our entire society.”
“This endeavor requires the commitment of society as a whole, alongside institutional support at every level,” stated Peleshi.

“No single institution can drive this process forward independently; it requires the active engagement of all stakeholders, including public administration, civil society, the media, academia, and the business sector,” he underscored.
Peleshi highlighted the role of the Parliament as a co-founder of this school, together with international partners.

“The Parliament remains an unwavering partner in every reform related to the integration process,” stated Peleshi, adding, “The Parliament has consistently provided political and institutional support for this initiative.”

Peleshi underscored that, “The Parliament will maintain its steadfast commitment in this regard, exercising its legislative and oversight functions to ensure the full implementation of the agreed reforms for integration.”

He further highlighted that Albania’s journey toward the European Union constitutes a longstanding national aspiration.
Today, he added, “This aspiration is more tangible than ever. Albania is now in the historic phase of accession negotiations following their official opening. We are working every day to make membership a reality. This progress fills us with optimism, but it also reminds us of the responsibility we bear.”

“European integration is not a gift, but the result of profound reforms and tireless work,” he stated.
