TIRANA, March 18 /ATA/ As Parliamentary Committees have resumed their work, the initiatives of the deputies will also be included in the discussion agenda.

After 5 months of boycott by the opposition and online proceedings, this Monday the Law Committee has returned to face- to- face meetings. In his remarks, the Democratic Party MP, Dashnor Sula, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the agreement reached between the opposition and the majority to
open a dialogue in the Law Committee on those laws that require a 3/5 vote.

“Pretending that nothing happened during these 5 months and come here to the commission and erase these 5 months, which have seen developments that threaten the democracy is not normal,” Sula said.

“This agreement is “fake.” Why? What the opposition demanded, the establishment of investigative commissions, is written into the Constitution. What did the majority do? It changed the law on investigative commissions and under the new law there is no point in establishing investigative commissions any more. This is a false normality,” said Sula.

Dhurata Çupi, DP MP, appreciated the fact that the parliamentary committees are back to work, also requesting the presence of ministers for the presentation of legal initiatives.

“The opposition welcomes the return to normal work in the Assembly. The Assembly cannot be the place where tailor-made laws are passed in complete darkness. We must join forces to protect the interests of citizens. The laws should be defended by the ministers, the highest political level rather than the administration,” said Çupi.

Klotilda Bushka Ferhati, the Socialist Party MP and head of the Laws Committee, said that the presence of ministers and vice-ministers in parliamentary committees has always been requested. “We have always requested the presence of ministers and deputy ministers.”
“There is an addition to work schedule. We will try to set the dates for the deputies’ initiatives as soon as possible. They must be completed within a tight deadline. The initiating MPs will be called to the committee to present their initiatives. We have also asked the state institutions to give their opinions on these initiatives, “according to the provisions of the Constitution,” Ferhati.
