With 97 votes in favor and 6 against, the MPs approved the establishment of inquiry commission for the dismissal of President of the Republic.

49 lawmakers of majority filed a request to Parliament of Albania for dismissal of President of the Republic.

According to them, Ilir Meta has overreached his constitutional and legal authority as well as violated the Constitution before, during and after the April 25 election campaign, with his actions, behaviors and messages sent to the public. Meta has failed to guarantee national unity, to moderate political conflict, on the contrary he has incited organized groups of political party supporters to intimidate citizens and restrict their freedom of movement as well as personal freedom up to the point of committing armed conflicts that claimed the life of one person and injured several others, also risking the life of State Police employees.

On Thursday, the Law Committee approved the request of MPs, paving the way for establishment of investigative commission for dismissal of the President.
