TIRANA, September 23 /ATA/ – The French documentary “The Bow and the Brush,” directed by French-Swiss filmmaker Raphaëlle Régnier, held its world premiere last night at the 24th Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF).

The film creatively combined Western classical music with Japanese Zen art, starring Albanian violinist Tedi Papavrami and Japanese calligraphy master Kanshô Miyashita.

Tedi Papavrami attended the world premiere alongside his wife, the Japanese pianist Maki Okada. Their presence lent special significance to the presentation and made the event even more engaging for the audience.

In one of the documentary’s most distinctive moments, Miyashita created a piece of Japanese calligraphy while Papavrami performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Chaconne.”

The title “The Bow and the Brush” refers to the artistic dialogue between the movement of the violin bow and the movement of the calligrapher’s brush. The documentary closely followed the creative process and collaboration between the two artists, showcasing not only the final result, but also the preparation and the moments of creation.

Featured in TIFF’s “Special Screenings” program, the film is part of an edition that brings 229 films from 71 countries to Tirana.

The rank is a breast star recognized as a traditional order, linking the modern state to earlier honors.

The ceremony was organized in the premises of the Premier’s Office.

By calling him a shining star of European Albania, the prime minister dedicated this honor to Tedi the multi-faceted creator, actor, translator, and researcher—a true Albanian of Europe and the world.

Rama praised the fact that this ceremony joins the cultural events of Europe Week.

“I want to thank Tedi for representing the true beauty of Albania in Europe, challenging the outdated, prejudiced stereotypes that once defined us. Thank you to Europe for bringing Tedi back to Albania this week—this has been an unforgettable, truly European moment in our home”, said Rama.

TIRANA, August 4/ATA/ The Academy of Sciences expressed its condolences today on Robert Papavrami passing away.

“The Arts Committee at the Academy of Sciences expresses its deepest condolences to the world-famous violinist Tedi Papavrami, on the passing away of Robert Papavrami, his father and teacher,” reads a post from the Academy of Sciences.

“The Albanian violin school today is poorer with this loss, but we are consoled that his artistic legacy continues into new heights, thanks to your achievements, dear Tedi”, emphasized the Academy of Sciences.

Robert Papavrami is one of the well-known figures of music in Albania. The son of Dr. Theodhor Papavrami, Robert grew up in a traditional family, where the most important thing was duty. The young Robert distinguished himself as a violinist with soul, becoming a violin teacher and producing many violinists for decades.

Even after settling in France where he ran a school, he continued with his passion for discovering talent and training young violinists. Many of his students have made their debuts and continue to be well-known on the world’s stages.

One of these students is his son, Tedi Papavrami, now a world-famous violinist.

In November 2014, Robert Papavrami, the violin teacher of several generations of Albanian artists, was honored by Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Medal of Gratitude for his long-standing contribution to Albanian art.

At a reception specially organized by the prime minister, in the Hall of Maps at the government building, his friends, family, collaborators and former students shared memories and emotions, with a sense of gratitude for what Professor Robert meant to Albanian instrumentalists. /gj.m/r.e//a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, November 25 /ATA/ The violinist Tedi Papavrami will give a concert today in context of the National Cultural Week, accompanied on the piano by Philippe Bianconi. Before the concert, the artists gave a press conference together with Minister of Culture Elva Margariti and Director of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet Abigeila Voshtina.

The concert program has significant works for the violinist and the audience, from Sonata no. 7 by Beethoven to “Ballad” by Pjetër Gaci. Thus, there are pieces of world repertoire and some Albanian ones. In one of his posts on social networks, Papavrami stated that the selection of foreign composers was logical, while the selection of the Albanian part was influenced by sentimentality.

“I don’t know what impact it can have on the public. But, it is clear that it is a work that has something very touching, somewhat naive, with elaborate folk motifs of course, coming from Shkodra of Pjeter Gaci, and this touches me, because Shkodra was a very dear city to me at that time” , said Tedi Papavrami during the press conference, referring to the “Ballad”.

At the conference, Minister of Culture stated that it is always a pleasure to have Tedi Papavrami among us. “I would not like to fall into the cliché, calling him one of our best ambassadors in the world, but the truth is that, despite his genius as an instrumentalist, despite his career, he has returned to Tirana as many times as he has been invited”, said the Minister Margariti. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
