Curated by Genti Gjikola and supported by the Central State Film Archive, this exhibition—graced by the artist himself at its opening—will remain at GAT until June 30. It charts the journey of a creative life spent navigating between canvas and cinema, blending tangible landscapes with the cinematic imagination. While mediums and functions shift, Nini’s unwavering faith in the drawn line as the most direct tool for understanding the world remains constant.

Spanning film and painting, his creative practice encompasses a diverse range of disciplines, including painting, drawing and costume and poster design.

Kleo Nini graduated in painting from the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana in 1968. For decades, Kleo Nini worked at the “New Albania” Film Studio, in an environment where some of the most important names in Albanian visual culture of the second half of the 20th century operated. In addition to landscapes of different regions, his creativity also developed in the designs of costumes and film sets. He is the director of photography in several Albanian movies. /a.f/r.e/p.s./

On this day, the Hungarian Embassy in Tirana and the “Queen Geraldine” Foundation donated a work of art to the “Queen Geraldine” maternity hospital.

The painting was created by Hungarian abstract artist Anna Konya, who currently lives in Albania. The painting honors the queen’s legacy of kindness and strength, while the presence of artwork in the hospital offers comfort and a lighter atmosphere.

Also, on the 110th anniversary of Queen Geraldine’s birth, children from the National Center for Children’s Culture were invited to honor her memory through a drawing competition. The heir to the Albanian royal family, Prince Leka II, also presented the prizes won by the children.

Inspired by her elegance, kindness and quiet strength, symbolized by the white rose, the activity also highlighted her special role in the nation’s memory.

Supported by Tirana Municipality and under the initiative “Tirana – Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025,” the URF Center hosted the event “Art & Cultural Heritage in Tirana” at the Reja Center.

The event featured a painting and photography competition for youth, live music, and a public exhibition.

During the event, which bridged generations through art, a professional jury evaluated submissions and awarded three main prizes.

The top photography prize went to Lorela Lamçe for a photo titled “Fërgesa of Tirana by Grandma Vjollca,” capturing traditional and local cuisine reflecting the capital’s popular heritage.

The top painting award was given to Gentiana Beqiri, whose colorful portrait depicted her grandmother knitting with needles while seated on a sofa.

All participants received certificates of appreciation. The event, promoting tradition through art, attracted considerable attention from both locals and tourists.

In addition to the works of art of painter Albana Shoshi, two rare nude paintings of her father are also exhibited at the Center.

One of them dates back to the distant year 1972, when Albania was under communism. It’s a painting in water colors by Zef Shoshi of warm colors and a perfect ratio of them. It began as a graphic at the former Academy of Fine Arts, to end up in a special and interesting painting.

The exhibition, which is like a meeting of generations, contains landscapes, calm nature and warm family paintings. The venue is complemented by a small stand of books, in Russian and Albanian, from the collection of the great Shoshi’s library. Among them are Tolstoy’s “War and Peace” in the original and Albanian language, a collection of Pushkin’s poems, as well as Chekhov’s stories in Italian, Moliere, Latin poets, etc. The stand carries also books by Kadare or by Gjergj Fishta, as well as studies on ethnography and Albanian visual art. /j.p/p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared the painting and the photo in the social media today. The painting is actually at the football and art exhibition staged at the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

The painting was realized in a photo by students: Doert Laçi, Leart Truka, Erno Mustafa, Darius Derguti, Vasil Sema, Destan Sulku and Elis Vika.

The “In motion – Art & Football” exhibition is located at the German Football Museum in Dortmund and is one of the many cultural and sports events that will accompany the most watched sports competition in the world, the European Football Championship in Germany.

Part of this exhibition is even the painting by the great Albanian painter Guri Madhi, “When they don’t go to the stadium”, made in 1986.

Nik Beçolli is one of the real characters in the painting. In a comment in the Facebook, he wrote about the time when work on the painting began. “It was year 1982 and we were watching the Germany-Argentina final at the house of the great painter Guri Madhi. There were boys and some neighbors. During the match, Guri made jokes and made sketches. I was the one sitting because as the youngest I didn’t even have a chair. I sat down like a crazy fan of Germany and I was crying… Everything in the painting is real.”/p.s./

His brushstrokes will bring the ramifications of Europe’s only wild river, the Vjosa. These ramifications remain intact in the work, just like the Vjosa River flowing wild in its natural bed.

This picture will also bring together a number of personalities of art, sport, history, media, politics and social life in the country. These characters will have the opportunity, together with the artist, to put their colors and signatures on the canvas, becoming part of this work of art.

The work will be divided into about 2500 paintings and each of them will be unique and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to make their favorite part of the painting, through an event aimed at pre-selling the work. Other pieces will also be available for purchase by art lovers who want to decorate their spaces with pieces of this painting.

The entire process will be carried out in real time in a space dedicated exclusively to the preparation of this gigantic work of art. The curious, the enthusiasts, but also passers-by will have the opportunity to closely have a taste of this colossal work and its realization. Mario Zefi participated in the competition with the painting made with the portrait of his grandmother, Tereza, from Bushati of Shkodra.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today on social media footage from the meeting that Minister of Education and Sports Evis Kushi held yesterday with winner of the second place of the “My Albania” painting competition, Mario Zefi, the 9th grade student in the “Mark Çuni” school, Shkodra, together with his grandmother.

“Good morning and to Mario who reminds us that every grandmother is like a Mother Teresa, and that love for the family is the talent that paints and wins every competition, like this one conducted by the Ministry of Education and Sports, I wish you a nice day,” wrote Rama.

Minister Kushi said that, “This was one of the paintings that attracted the most attention of the public; it received many likes, but above all it touched the hearts of the public. This painting beautifully weaves together the student’s talent, Albanian traditions and love for the grandmother, and this third is so beautiful, but also touching”.

Kushi said that, “Mother Teresa has won our hearts with the noble portrait, skillfully painted by her 14-year-old grandson Mario, who inspired him to express in an amazing painting his rare talent, the centuries-old traditions of his homeland, and above all love for the grandmother”.

“She is a big and strong mother, with 13 children and 28 grandchildren who, together with Mario’s parents, offer her all the support he needs to exercise and develop his talent,” Kushi said.

Kushi emphasized that, “I am proud of Mario and many others like him throughout Albania, who fill our hearts with optimism and motivate us more and more every day, me and all the teachers around the country in our common mission”.

Artists from Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Turkey, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Poland as well as artists from Korça will be part of the colony this year, putting the magic of autumn in Korça and its surroundings on their canvases.

As every year, one of their works realized during the days of the colony will be donated to the “Guri Madhi” Art Gallery, in Korça.

The “Days of Mio” colony will continue until October 28. This activity has already become a tradition. Since 2007, every end of October, in Korça, there takes place this gathering of artists from different countries, in honor of the People’s Painter Vangjush Mio. Korça Cultural Center is also named after him. On the last day of the Colony, there will be an exhibition with the works of art of all the participating painters.

Vangjush Mio is known as the first impressionist in Albania. His landscapes, inspired by Korça and Pogradeci, have been highly appreciated by critics. At the same time, he has been brilliant in the realization of portraits as well as in scenography for the theater of Korça./p.s./
