TIRANA, July 9 /ATA/- The General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), by unanimous vote, has confirmed the decision to advance the status of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo from observer to associate member.

The delegation of the parliament of the Republic of Kosovo in this Assembly is headed by MP Dimal Basha, chairman of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo to PAF, as well as MPs Ariana Musliu Shoshi and Fridon Lala, members of the delegation.

In a post on social networks, MP Dimal Basha announced that the decision was taken during the 47th PAF Session held yesterday in Kigali, Rwanda.

“Until today, the Delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo in this Assembly has enjoyed the status of observer.”

As the head of the delegation, he thanks fellow members Fridon Lala and Ariana Musliu Shoshi for their contribution, Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca for the continuous support, the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the assistance and coordination, the staff of the parliament, and the secretary of the delegation for engagement in the process.

“A special thank-you goes to the Head of Mission for the European Region in PAF, Jean-Charles Luperto, who together with advisor Fatmir Leci have been our main pillar in lobbying and support throughout this journey. I am very happy that the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo is joining the other 15 associate members of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie and I deeply believe that we will be an added value of this organization through which we will commit to contribute with discussions and proposals about our common values, respect for human rights, the constitutional state, the development of inter-parliamentary communication, as well as the promotion and protection of democracy,” the MP of Kosovo says.

The membership of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, he underlines, will contribute to the further development of French culture and language in Kosovo, with special focus and interest in the development of new cooperation projects with institutions, partners, countries, parliaments and governments of Francophonie.
