The two mayors discussed the common cultural calendar of both cities as part of the measures to further strengthen ties between the two communities.

“The bridge linking Ottawa with Tirana and Tirana with Ottawa is the human resources and the humanism of those who have built success stories in the Mediterranean, as well as here in North America and elsewhere. I am really grateful and we will perhaps compile a joint calendar in the future. Tirana was the European Youth Capital last year and the European City of Sports this year. In the meantime, we have filed application to be declared as the Mediterranean City of Culture. It would be ideal for us to compile a joint cultural calendar with best artists from Tirana and Ottawa can exchange and further strengthen ties between our citizens,” Veliaj said.

Tirana Mayor also praised his counterpart for supporting Albanian citizens living and working in Ottawa.
