TIRANA, May 11 /ATA/ The OSCE Presence in Albania pays special attention to enhancing the capacity of prosecutors and judges to tackle human trafficking from the perspectives of victim protection.

The Presence and the Magistrates School have delivered the first round of training workshops for 26 judges and prosecutors to increase their knowledge and understanding of newly developed anti-trafficking legislation and best practices, to ensure the effective application of victim-centred and human rights-based approaches in the criminal proceedings. Presentations and discussions fostered a lively exchange on the role of the judiciary in the national response, including in upholding victims’ rights and accountability for perpetrators.

The training was delivered as part of the programme “Transforming the National Response to Human Trafficking in and from Albania” implemented by a consortium of local and international organizations led by UNICEF Albania and supported by the United Kingdom government.
