The media reported that the co-chairman of the Electoral Reform Commission, Damian Gjiknuri, clashed with the Reestablishment MPs who did not let him enter the hall.

Reestablishment MP Flamur Noka has not allowed Gjiknuri to enter the hall, asking him to change the co-chairman who represents the opposition in this commission.

The co-chairman of the Electoral Reform Commission, Damian Gjiknuri, in a media statement, after Reestablishment blocked the meeting, said that the meeting will be held online.

“As you know, we had a hearing with non-governmental organizations to get their feedback for improving the electoral code. The scenes you saw made it impossible the organizations to offer their feedback. Yet again, a part of the opposition blocked the entrance, made it impossible for us to hold the meeting. Amid the circumstances, we feel compelled to announce another meeting. I am surprised by one thing, the two oppositions are not doing anything to move this process forward. The absurdity of this is that majority is comfortable even with this electoral code,” said Gjiknuri.

While Oerd Bylykbashi, in a media briefing after the cancellation of the Electoral Reform Commission meeting, said that a reform without consensus serves no one but Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The meeting scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday was held at 1:00 p.m.
The opposition is trying to impede parliamentary activity claiming that the majority has destroyed every public space, dropped its demands for parliamentary investigative commissions, or did not accept the request for changing the members of the special electoral reform commission.

The chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, in a media statement, after the confrontation with the Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikolla in the Presidency of the Assembly, said that they will not allow the majority to hold meetings as long as it ignores the demands of the opposition.
