TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/ – Albania’s Constitutional Court rejected the Democratic Party’s request to suspend the law on Parliamentary Investigative Committees on Monday.

The Constitutional Court said in press statement that the opposition’s request doesn’t meet the conditions provided by the law on defining the request as urgent.

The Court said that it examined the request forwarded by 33 members of parliament on May 27, demanding the suspension of the law on several amendments to the law on organization and functioning of the parliamentary investigative committees.

The opposition claims the ruling majority has changed a law on investigative commissions to prevent the opposition from holding the ruling majority accountable, a right it says is enshrined in the country’s constitution.
