TIRANA, April 18 /ATA/ – The ruling Socialist Party (SP) would win a majority of 73 seats and a third consecutive term in office if the parliamentary election were to take place today, an opinion poll showed on Sunday evening.

According to the latest pre-election opinion poll conducted by the Italian Institute Piepoli, SP would win 48-52 % of votes or 73 seats in the next parliament. The main opposition Democratic Party and its allies would secure 58 seats or 39-43 % at a national level. The Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) has shrunken compared to its results in the 2017 general elections and is poised to secure around 10 seats or 3.5-7.5% of the votes.

The ruling Socialists would also win the majority of votes in three main districts of Albania if the parliamentary elections were to be held today, according to the projections.

SP would win 49-53 % of votes, securing 18 to 20 seats out of a total of 36 seats to represent Tirana in next parliament. This way, SP would preserve the 2017 election result and could secure two more seats.

The poll found that around 36 to 40 % of the voters in Tirana would back the main opposition Democratic Party and its Alliance for Change, which would be translated into 12 to 14 seats. The Socialist Movement for Integration would gain 4-8 % of votes, or 1 to 3 seats.

The survey suggests that SP would win 47 to 51% of votes in Durres, compared to 40-44% of votes for DP, which has actually narrowed difference with ruling Socialists in the coastal city, where they would secure six to eight seats.

According to the poll, 2 to 6% of voters would back SMI in Durres.

The Socialists are favourites also in the central district of Elbasan, where they are projected to win 52 to 56% of votes compared to 37 to 41% of votes for DP.

SP would secure eight to nine seats in Elbasan, whereas DP is expected to win four to six seats.

The poll also found that 57 % of the respondents say the government of Socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama has performed positively during its second term in office

TIRANA, March 17 /ATA/ – The ruling Socialist Party (SP) would win a third consecutive term in office if the parliamentary election were to take place today, an opinion poll suggested on Wednesday.

According to the fourth pre-election opinion poll conducted by the Italian Institute Piepoli, the ruling Socialists would secure a majority of 73 seats in the next parliament, the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) would win 56 seats and the Socialist Movement (SMI) for Integration would secure 10 mandates.

DP and SMI would be unable to win the majority of seats in parliament even in the framework of their post-election deal

Several smaller political parties will struggle to win a seat in the next parliament.

The ruling Socialists would win the majority of seats in Tirana if the election was to take place today, whereas the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) has lost ground compared to its performance in the parliamentary election in 2017, according to the opinion poll.

The leading Italian Institute Piepoli unveiled the projections of its fourth pre-election opinion poll among more than 1000 people and it found that 49 to 53% of the Tirana citizens would vote in favour of the Socialist Party in the next month’s parliamentary elections in Tirana and this is translated into 18 to 20 seats in parliament. This way, the ruling Socialists would retain their election result in 2017, and they stand the chances to gain two more seats in the next parliament.

The main opposition Democratic Party would come the second in the election with 35 to 39 percent of the respondents saying they would vote for the DP, and it would secure 12 to 14 seats in parliament. The poll’s findings suggest that DP will increase its seats in parliament compared to 11 seats it won in the capital in the 2-17 parliamentary elections.

The Socialist Movement for Integration will see its backing go down, wining only 4 to 8% of the votes in Tirana, or 1 to 3 seats in parliament, compared to five seats in 2017.

The opinion poll also found that the Socialist Party would win 49-53 % of the votes or 6 to 8 seats in the central region of Elbasan, whereas DP and its Alliance for Change would secure 37-41 % of the votes, or 5 to 7 mandates.

The poll’s findings suggest that 43-47% of the citizens in Durres would vote for SP and it would win 6 to 8 seats in parliament. DP and its allies would gain the backing of 38-42% of the citizens, securing 4 to 6 seats, whereas the SMI would win 6-10% of the votes, or 2 seats.

The opposition DP would retain its stronghold in the north-western region of Shkodra, with 46-50% of the respondents saying they would vote for DP, which would be translated into 4 to 6 seats in the parliament.
