TIRANA, Sept 9 /ATA/ – Tirana International Airport (TIA) announced Tuesday that the Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will launch operations to four new destinations: Stockholm Arlanda, Cologne, Billund, and Tenerife. Additionally, the carrier will increase flight frequencies to Milan, Brussels, Turin, and Berlin.

“The airline will base its 14th Airbus A321neo aircraft in Tirana, launching new routes to Stockholm Arlanda, Cologne, Billund, and Tenerife, while boosting flights to Milan, Brussels, Turin, and Berlin,” TIA said.

According to TIA, this expansion will add over 500,000 additional seats annually, create more than 35 direct jobs, and support over 350 additional positions in the aviation and related service industries.

With a total of 57 destinations across 17 countries, Wizz Air’s growth strengthens Albania’s connectivity with Europe and solidifies TIA’s role as a key regional hub.

In July 2025, Albania recorded a record 152% increase in flights compared to pre-pandemic levels, ranking first in Europe and leading the Balkans.
