“In today’s meeting, the Technical Committee of Experts analyzed the epidemiological situation regarding Sars Cov2 infection in the country, region and the world, evaluating the monitoring indicators of this situation. The committee informs that the suspicion of the specialists for the presence of the Omicron variant of the virus in Albania has been confirmed with the answer coming from the reference laboratory in Germany, however in Albania the Delta variant continues to take hold “, said Rakacolli.
Director of the Public Health Institute dr. Eugena Tomini said that the first two cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed.
“IPH as part of a systematic process of sending detected samples to the virology laboratory in IPH, sending detected samples that have other suspected signals for other variants of Sars COV 2, confirmed their arrival from the reference laboratory in Germany, 2 cases of Omicron in the total of the samples sent against the genomic sequencing “, said Tomini.
Tomini added that the variant Delta continues to take hold despite the confirmation of Omicron cases.
