In a press conference, responding to the interest of journalists if there will be a pension raise, Rama said that “I have explained 100 times that the increase in salaries and pensions do not come from the same direction. So the pension hole inherited is the deepest and widest because it goes beyond the democratic period itself.”

“So for a significant pension increase, we are not there yet, while we hope, we wish that the discovery of Shpirag will be feasible and then, of course, the first to benefit will be the pensioners,” Rama said.

“Today in Shpirag, where the important discovery made 6.1km deep in the oil-bearing field, carries with it, in addition to the great promise of extracting a significant wealth for Albania and the Albanians, the challenge of the final technical test of assessing the pressure sustainability of gas and oil flow up to the surface of the earth,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “by the end of this year we will learn this, while we are working in parallel on the project of the Sovereign Fund that will administer this great national asset, starting from the meticulous study of world practices in the field, such as sovereign funds of Norway, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and so on.”

“Well, good luck to us as this almost ten-year effort is approaching the decisive hour of truth,” said Rama.
