The 11th question concerns Albania’s application for membership in the European Union.

“Albania’s membership in the European Union is related to the membership of North Macedonia. There are people who say that Albania’s application for EU membership should be separated from that of North Macedonia, so that our country is assessed based on its merits. Others say we should continue to wait for North Macedonia. What do you think? the question addressed to the citizens says.

The question also explains that, “an EU member state has unresolved bilateral issues with North Macedonia, therefore it vetoed on the European Council the opening of its EU accession negotiations, blocking Albania as well,” since applications of both countries are treated as a single file at the European Council table. If even at the end of the first half of 2022 the veto on North Macedonia is not lifted, Albania should request the separation of the file and separate treatment by the European Council.”

Citizens have three options for answering this question.

“We must urge that Albania be evaluated separately from North Macedonia; We must continue to wait for the lifting of the veto on North Macedonia; I do not know how to judge on this issue, ” are the possibilities of the answer for the citizens.
