More than 96 thousand farmers provided with tax identification number NIPT

TIRANA, June 7/ATA/ The flow of tourism is expected to give an impetus to the development of the agricultural sector in the country, as a result of the increase in consumer demand. On the other hand, a number of subsidy programs are being applied that focus not only on supporting farmers, but also on encouraging new investments in the sector.

The farmers who sell their products are registering at the regional tax offices, being provided with a tax identification number (NIPT).

According to INSTAT, there are 96 thousand 440 farmers in the country provided with NIPT. On an annual basis, the number of farmers with NIPT has increased by 14.3%.

According to the data, it appears that 57% of farmers exercise their economic activity in mixed farms and in the cultivation of vegetables.

Meanwhile, 11.2% of the total happens to be women farmers or managers. The highest number of formalized farmers is registered in Lushnje, with 10 thousand 253 farmers, or 10.6% of the total number of active farmers who have NIPT.

Divjaka ranks after Lushnja with 5 thousand 187 registered farmers and then Berati with 4 thousand 800 farmers./p.s./

TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/ – A growing number of farmers are registering and applying with the regional tax offices across the country to obtain the single tax identification number (NIPT).

According to the latest National Institute of Statistics report (INSTAT), a total of 49,000 farmers countrywide were equipped with NIPT at end of 2020. INSTAT data show that 5517 farms are operated by women.

With the territorial administration reform implemented and with creation of 61 municipalities, which are also economic and administrative units, the government allocated the largest financial package to support renaissance projects in villages throughout the country.

The agricultural land area under irrigation has almost doubled to over 225.000 hectares from around 120.000 hectares just few years ago.

The government has also planned financial programmes to support projects on warehouse storage centres, refrigerators and food processing lines.

Albania’s agriculture exports have recorded a fourfold growth over the past eight years and are expected to be valued at around $ one billion by end of 2025.
