TIRANA, September 9/ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha participated today in the international conference “Balkans meet in Trieste”, organized by the Italian news agency ANSA and the Alliance of Balkan News Agencies (ABNA), in cooperation with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Central European Initiative (CEI).

At the center of this activity was the First Panel on the topic “Enlargement, Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation”, where Minister Hoxha conveyed key messages regarding the future of the region and common European challenges.

During his speech, Hoxha emphasized that EU enlargement is not simply a transformative political project, but a strategic investment in the security, stability and sustainability of both the Western Balkans and Europe as a whole.

“It is a genuinely a win-win endeavor, bringing benefits to both sides. Albania remains unwavering in its commitment to its European path and to a region firmly anchored within the European family,” Hoxha said.

However, he added, in today’s increasingly complex geopolitical environment, strategic communication has become an integral component of foreign policy.

“Disinformation, foreign interference and manipulation of information seek to exploit divisions, erode trust in democratic institutions and weaken public confidence in democracy and the European project. The closer we move to EU membership, the more we become a target for those who do not share our vision, values or ambitions.

That is precisely why credible journalism and responsible news agencies are more important than ever. Those who collect, verify and disseminate information are among the first lines of defence against manipulation and distortion. Facts, professional journalism and transparent communication remain indispensable tools for strengthening democratic sustainability and protecting public debate”, stated Hoxha.

For Albania, according to him, clear and credible public communication about our European choice is a strategic priority.

“This means explaining not only our reforms, our progress and our delivery, but also the opportunities, responsibilities and long-term benefits that come with EU membership. Building public trust in this journey is as important as advancing the journey itself. And in this shared responsibility, each of us has a role to play: defending truth, upholding facts and resisting those who seek to manipulate, divide or distort our democratic choices and our European future,” concluded Hoxha. /gj.m/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, October 8/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted today to a fake news published in the media according to which he has offered an important post to lecturer Mark Marku.

Writing in the social media, PM Rama emphasized that he is reacting and rejecting the fake news only in respect of the fact that Marku has come in a civilized way to the FLASIM Podcast.

“Of course, there is a lot of such bullshit every day on the channels without filters or minimal hygiene that inform Albanians, but I make this denial only out of respect for the fact that Mr. Mark Marku has come to the FLASIM Podcast in a rather civilized way, and it is up to me to return the respect, as a person with whom we have neither the same political convictions, nor affiliation of any kind in our affairs”, said Rama.

Prime Minister Edi Rama had as his guests to the 13th episode of the FLASIM Podcast, in April of the current year, the lecturer of Journalism and Communication, at the Faculty of History and Philology, University of Tirana, the former MP of the Democratic Party Mark Marku, who narrated his journey in journalism, but also in politics. Currently, Mark Marku holds the position of the Dean of the Faculty of History and Philology, since August of the current year. /k.s/r.e/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, October 16/ATA/ In the framework of the Berlin Process summit in Tirana, there was signed today the agreement for the recognition of the professional qualifications of nurses, veterinarians, pharmacists and midwives in context of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).

This agreement was prepared by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).

Secretary of the Council for Regional Cooperation Majlinda Bregu said that citizens of all Western Balkan countries who have such a qualification, can now start the application procedures to work in any of the countries of the region if they have such an opportunity.

“Another very successful day in Tirana, where through four new professions, we have increased the number of professional qualifications to seven which will be recognized throughout the Western Balkans. Now, of course, the procedures will start for these qualifications to be recognized by the EU and not only among the Balkan states. Of course, all this work helps bring our region closer to the European Union”, said Bregu.

Further on, she added that it is very important that all the countries of the Western Balkans ratify the agreements reached within the Berlin Process. On this occasion, she singled out Montenegro and Bosnia, as the only two countries that have not yet ratified the previously reached agreements.

Meanwhile, within the framework of this activity, Bregu said that it is important that Albania is making a tradition the organization of high-level summits. /r.e/p.s./

PM Rama reacted after some media organs spread the fake news that residents will get houses, but will pay a soft loan.

“Fake news under our very eyes! They say so everywhere where there is reconstruction after the earthquake, except in Albania where the houses have been rebuilt and will be rebuilt for free for all the affected families! May God protect Albanians from the epidemic of fake news!”, he said on social media. /p.s./
