In a post on social media platform X, Hoxha said the two discussed current developments across the Western Balkans, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the region.

“We also exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities ahead and on the importance of continued close coordination between Albania and the United Kingdom in support of a more stable, safer and more European Western Balkans,” Hoxha said.

He added that the partnership with the United Kingdom remained an important part of Albania’s engagement in the region and beyond.

Foreign Minister Spiropali reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to deepening its strategic alliance with the United States, particularly in political, economic and security cooperation.

Spiropali is in New York this week to take part in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which brings together global leaders for high-level meetings and multilateral events.

In a social media post following the event, Spiropali said she was pleased to join the transatlantic dinner at the invitation of senior U.S. officials.

“Our strategic alliance will continue to deepen across the political, economic and security dimensions,” she wrote.

Spiropali is also expected to participate in the opening debate of the General Assembly, held under the theme “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals.”

She has also been invited to the annual meeting of the Women Leaders’ Network of the UN General Assembly, hosted by UNGA President Annalena Baerbock, and will represent Albania in several bilateral and multilateral meetings on global security, sustainable development, and human rights.
